The data in the table should be viewed in the context that since 2013/14, many trusts have started classifying an increasing number of mental illness beds as non-consultant-led. This is because some mental health services are now run by multi-disciplinary teams rather than consultants.<\/p><p>The number of acute consultant-led mental health beds in the National Health Service in England is shown in the following table. The table may not include all of the following types of bed - adult secure mental illness; adult secure learning disability and autism; adult eating disorder; child and mental health service Tier 4, including eating disorder; perinatal and neuropsychiatry.<\/p><p>Prior to 2010-11 the KH03 was an annual return collecting beds by ward classification.
