There are multiple ways to have identity documents checked, including using the EU Exit: ID Document Check app or by posting identity documents to the Home Office. We have also opened 50 locations nationwide where applicants can have their passport scanned and verified.<\/p>
The ID document scanning service is provided at the discretion of each local authority. The Home Office would encourage as many local authorities as possible to offer the service, and we continue to work with local government bodies across the UK to increase the provision of this service by local authorities, including in Wales.<\/p>"}

The range should be considered indicative as future migration flows can be affected by many factors and are difficult to predict.<\/p>

The Government has made clear that the current arrangements for landlords conducting checks on EU nationals, involving the use of national passports and identity cards, will not change prior to introduction of the future skills-based immigration system.<\/p>
The Home Office has engaged with a wide range of groups on the design of the EU Settlement Scheme. We will continue to engage widely as we develop and implement other aspects of the future system. Updated guidance for landlords will be published shortly.<\/p>

In the event that the UK leaves the European Union without a deal, the Government will continue to operate the EU Settlement Scheme for European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss citizens resident in the UK by exit day and their family members, enabling them to obtain the UK immigration status which they will need in order to reside here permanently. This reflects the policy paper \u201cCitizens\u2019 Rights \u2013 EU citizens in the UK and UK nationals in the EU\u201d published by the Department for Exiting the European Union on 6 December 2018 and updated on 28 March 2019.<\/p>
In a \u2018no deal\u2019 scenario, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members lawfully residing in the UK by exit day will continue to be able to access in-country benefits and public services on broadly the same terms as now. This means that they will retain their entitlement to healthcare, education, benefits and social housing on the same basis as now, and that these entitlements will be subject to any future domestic policy changes which apply to UK nationals.
