Under the Regulations made earlier this year to implement the Security of Networks and Information Systems Directive (016/1148) and improve the security and resilience of the UK to Cyber Threats, Competent Authorities in the UK are required to identify the operators of essential services with an establishment on UK territory by 9 November 2018. This process is currently ongoing but as of June 2018 Competent Authorities had identified 513 operators of essential services in the UK, with further operators to be identified by 9 November.

The Home Office delivers the Government’s Cyber Aware campaign, and the Take Five to Stop Fraud campaign, which is run in conjunction with UK Finance and supported by the UK’s banks. The Cyber Aware and Take Five campaigns are designed to help encourage the public and small businesses to protect themselves from cyber crime and fraud, providing advice on specific protective and actionable behaviours to increase resilience.

Cyber Aware and Take Five in particular have been developed jointly by industry and Government experts including the National Cyber Security Centre and the Joint Fraud Taskforce and have established consensus around a single set of authoritative advice to protect individuals from cyber criminals and fraudsters. This advice is deployed through a network of over 450 public, private and third sector partners, and through targeted media interventions.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1539", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Mr Ben Wallace"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Wyre and Preston North"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr Ben Wallace"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-03-06", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-03-06T19:26:11.32Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-02-27", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Cybercrime"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Office, what steps she is taking to improve awareness of cyber fraud amongst the public.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1586", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Adam Afriyie"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Windsor"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Adam Afriyie"} ], "uin" : "130001"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/801126", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Cabinet Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/801126/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
