While the volume of prosecutions in the Area have fallen by 39% during the 8 year period, it is important to be aware that the types of cases prosecuted by Merseyside and Cheshire CPS have changed significantly in the period between 2010 and 2018. The Area is prosecuting more serious and complex cases as evidenced by a 21% increase in homicide, a 23% increase in offences against the person and a 62% increase in sexual offences cases. During this period, minor motoring cases have fallen by 52% in the Area. This followed changes to the list of specified offences made in 2012 which transferred responsibility for prosecuting many low level motoring offences back to the police.<\/p>"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4106", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sir Robert Buckland"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "South Swindon"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Robert Buckland"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2019-02-07", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "214504"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2019-02-07T12:31:40.597Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "88"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Attorney General"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Attorney General"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2019-01-30", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Crown Prosecution Service: Cheshire and Merseyside"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Attorney General, what the caseload of Merseyside-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service has been in each year from 2010 to 2018.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/483", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Maria Eagle"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Garston and Halewood"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Maria Eagle"} ], "uin" : "214502"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1051361", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Attorney General"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1051361/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

This followed changes to the list of specified offences made in 2012 which transferred responsibility for prosecuting many low level motoring offences back to the police.<\/p>"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4106", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sir Robert Buckland"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "South Swindon"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Robert Buckland"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2019-02-07", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "214502"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2019-02-07T12:31:40.677Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "88"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Attorney General"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Attorney General"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2019-01-30", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Prosecutions: Cheshire and Merseyside"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Attorney General, how many successful prosecutions have been achieved in the Mersey-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service area for each year from 2010 to 2018.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/483", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Maria Eagle"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Garston and Halewood"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Maria Eagle"} ], "uin" : "214504"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1051364", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Ministry of Justice"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1051364/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
