The UK welcomes the support from within the European Parliament for the move to a single seat and hopes that Members of the European Parliament push this issue up the political agenda. Planning for these reforms will present an opportunity for consultation and to consider the recommendations both of the Shropshire inquiry and the 2014 Infant Cremation Commission in Scotland, including the appointment of a National Inspector of Crematoria.<\/p>"}

This Government is supportive of local efforts to promote growth and very aware that roads play a vital part in driving growth. Local areas are best placed to determine what local road schemes should be developed to address local problems. Funding for proposals, such as the North West Relief Road, has now been devolved to the Local Growth Fund. In July 2014 The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) secured £75.3m from the Government\u2019s Local Growth Fund to support economic growth in the area and in January the LEP agreed an expansion to its growth deal which will see an extra £7.7m invested in the area between 2016 and 2021.<\/p>

The Government appreciates that burial and cremation law and practice are of particular concern to those affected by previous practices at Emstrey Crematorium in Shrewsbury. We have the greatest sympathy for the parents in these cases and await the report of the independent inquiry into infant cremations at Emstrey, commissioned by Shropshire County Council, which is due to be published in April 2015.<\/p>

The Enterprise Finance Guarantee (EFG) is a valuable programme that helps viable businesses get access to finance where they have insufficient security or an inadequate track record. Since launch, EFG has supported SMEs by enabling over 23,000 loans with a total value of some £2.4bn (as at 31 December 2014) and has a significant wider economic benefit. Funding for up to a further £500 million of lending was made available for 2015/16 in the 2014 Autumn Statement.<\/p>

Following evidence of concerns of lending by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in August 2014, the Department asked RBS to instigate an internal review into this issue. The findings of that review and a proposed course of action were presented at a meeting with the British Business Bank in December 2014, and senior executives from RBS met my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills on 14 January 2015. I have asked the British Business Bank \u2013 which now administers the programme on behalf of the Department \u2013 to continue to closely monitor the action being taken by RBS to address these issues. I have been given assurance from RBS that they will put right any cases where they are at fault to ensure that no detriment is suffered by either the borrower or the taxpayer.<\/p>
