The Government Car Service (GCS) provides vehicles to a number of Government departments. Due to logistical and operational reasons the type of vehicles deployed at each department can vary on a daily or weekly basis. The GCS fleet currently has 122 vehicles, 58 (48%) of which are vehicles made in Britain.

National parks are a devolved matter in Wales. However, I regularly engage with the Welsh Labour Government on a variety of topics, and I would welcome discussions with them on national parks matters next time I meet with them.

The UK Government is committed to supporting the promotion and use of the Welsh language, including the Welsh Government’s ambition for one million Welsh speakers by 2050. Indeed, as a Welsh speaker, I take every opportunity to promote the use of Welsh and communicate bilingually where possible. In addition, the UK Government has agreed a strong licence fee settlement with S4C - a major Welsh language broadcaster - receiving £88.8 million per annum for the first two years, which will then rise in line with inflation thereafter.

However, the Brecon Beacons National Park has a long-standing international identity that is synonymous with its name. I am concerned that the exclusive use of Bannau Brycheiniog will reduce recognition of the national park on an international stage, and I struggle to understand why the Welsh name cannot be used in conjunction with the English name.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1545", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for David T C Davies"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Monmouth"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "David T C Davies"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-04-26", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-04-26T12:48:04.96Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "28"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Wales"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Wales"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-04-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Bannau Brycheiniog"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, whether he has made representations to the Welsh Government on renaming the Brecon Beacons National Park.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/350", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sir John Hayes"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "South Holland and The Deepings"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Sir John Hayes"} ], "uin" : "181881"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1605164", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Wales Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1605164/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

I have not had discussions with Welsh Government Ministers about their Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan.

The UK Government is fully committed to building a fairer Britain and taking the action needed to address negative disparities wherever they exist. That is why in March 2022 the UK Government published its response to the report by the independent Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities. ‘Inclusive Britain’ sets out a ground-breaking action plan to tackle negative disparities, promote unity, and build a fairer Britain for all.
