This means current and prospective electric vehicle drivers being able to easily locate and access chargepoints that are affordable and secure.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>The Government has a number of different grant schemes to support infrastructure roll-out including the Government\u2019s £4.5 million On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme which assists local authorities with the installation of chargepoints in residential areas. Motorists and businesses can receive grants for chargepoint installation through the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme and the Workplace Chargepoint Scheme. Government is investing £20 million to deliver dedicated chargepoints for electric taxis and £14.2 million for bus recharging and refuelling under the Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>The Government is also providing £40m through the Go Ultra Low City scheme which will see infrastructure installed in Bristol, London, Milton Keynes Nottingham Dundee, Oxford, York and the North East region and the Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund is made up of £200m new Government investment matched by £200m private investors and will accelerate the roll-out of charging infrastructure.<\/p>"}

This is a reckless activity which increases the likelihood of a collision four-fold. The fine increased from £100 to £200, and the penalty points increased from three to six points for all drivers. These increases came into effect in March 2017.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>The Government also recognises the importance of educating drivers about the risks involved in using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>In addition to advice in the Highway Code and on www.gov.uk,The THINK! Campaigns are designed to educate drivers and promote road safety, which includes supporting a change in behaviour on using mobile phones when driving.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Details of the THINK! campaigns can be found at <a href=\"http://think.direct.gov.uk/mobile-phones.html\" target=\"_blank\">http://think.direct.gov.uk/mobile-phones.html<\/a><\/p><p> <\/p><p>The Department\u2019s policy on the use of mobile phones while driving will be kept under review and consideration will be given to the impact of the recent change in law and the THINK! campaigns in due course.<\/p>"}

The Task and Finish Group on Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing considered the regulation of the industry in their discussions. The report of the Task and Finish Group was published on 24 September 2018.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>On 12 February 2019 we published the Government\u2019s response to the report of the Task and Finish Group which sets out which of the recommendations the Department proposes to take forward. Many of the short-term recommendations made by the Chair of the Task and Finish Group in his report are for licensing authorities to make full use of their extensive existing powers and these are a matter for licensing authorities to consider.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Work has already started to take forward some of the recommendations, for example the Department launched, on 12 February, its consultation on draft statutory guidance to be issued to licensing authorities on the use of their powers to protect children and vulnerable adults from harm which will run until 22 April. Those reforms that require legislative change, for example national minimum standards, will be made through primary legislation when time allows.<\/p>"}

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency consults with key organisations to inform reviews of medical conditions in relation to driving. The results of these reviews are shared with the panels.<\/p><p>The key organisations consulted include medical experts, charities, road safety groups and industry groups. For diabetes, this includes the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists, Diabetes UK, the Independent Diabetes Trust, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, BRAKE, the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association.<\/p>"}
