All public services, including the police, need to take their fair share of the savings to reduce the deficit and help the country live within its means. Final police funding settlement allocations for 2015/16 were confirmed on 10 February, following a debate and vote in the House of Commons. After careful consideration, the Government decided that, as in previous years, all police forces in England and Wales would receive the same percentage reduction in core central Government funding. This is a transparent and straight forward approach and was the basis on which many Police and Crime Commissioners and forces had made their financial plans.

The Government has committed to a fundamental review of the police funding formula to ensure that allocations to local forces are fair and appropriate. We will consult the police fully in due course.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1528", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sir Mike Penning"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Hemel Hempstead"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mike Penning"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2015-06-09", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2015-06-09T11:55:12.737Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2015-06-04", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Police: Finance"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what factors she took into account when deciding funding reductions for each police force in England and Wales; and if she will make a statement.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4124", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Chi Onwurah"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Newcastle upon Tyne Central"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Chi Onwurah"} ], "uin" : "1170"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/179634", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Home Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/179634/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The Home Department has made savings in relation to stationery costs and the time taken to produce answers to Parliamentary Questions associated with the previous system.

The Q&A system has improved efficiency in the administrative processing of answers to Parliamentary Questions.

It will be for the Procedure Committee to evaluate the effectiveness of the new system in improving performance when it assesses the evidence following the end of the session.

The Police ICT Company currently does not have any assigned budget or staff. As the Company will be owned and led by Police and Crime Commissioners, it is now for them to take immediate decisions on the specific functions of the
Company.

To help PCCs consider options and take these decisions, the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, on behalf of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, received a grant of up to £291,500 from the 2014/15 Police Innovation Fund.

The budget for 2015/16 is yet to be agreed, and will depend on PCCs decisions.
