In December 2018, the Government set out its proposals in \u201cThe UK\u2019s future Skills-based Immigration System\u201d White Paper, which is due to come into force from January 2021.<\/p>
We are determined to ensure that the future immigration system is efficient and able to respond to users\u2019 needs, and as proposed in the White Paper, we will reform existing sponsorship arrangements \u2013 streamlining, simplifying and minimising bureaucracy.<\/p>
The Government values the positive contribution made to the UK by the digital, arts and sporting sectors and we want this to continue. We will ensure that the new system continues to support the UK\u2019s thriving cultural and sporting life and will also explore options to support start-up companies in our new, expanding digital technology sector.<\/p>

The Government recognises the damaging impact that violence and abuse can have, not only for victims, but also for businesses, and the wider community. We continue to work closely with retailers, the police and others to tackle these crimes.<\/p>

We will not be able to tell applicants why the automated check is unable to cover all their UK residence because doing so may introduce the risk of identity theft and abuse. We recognise that some applicants may lack documentary evidence for various reasons, and we will work flexibly with applicants to help them evidence their UK residence by the best means available to them.<\/p> Information regarding the number of asylum applications that breached the six month resolution target threshold in 2017/2018 is published as part of the Government\u2019s Transparency agenda, the latest release of which can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/asylum-transparency-data-february-2019<\/a><\/p> The Home Office does not publish data on the number of asylum applications that have remained open for over a year as at 1 December 2018.<\/p> However as at 31st December 2018, there were 12,213 asylum applications pending an initial decision for more than 6 months.
