A report by the EU IPO, <a href=\"https://euipo.europa.eu/tunnel-web/secure/webdav/guest/document_library/observatory/documents/IPContributionStudy/performance_in_the_European_Union/performance_in_the_European_Union_full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Intellectual property rights intensive industries and economic performance in the European Union<\/a>, estimated that the value of IP intensive industries to the UK economy was £5,664,168 million or 42.3% of Gross Value Added (GVA) between 2011 and 2013. In addition the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) commissioned the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to develop a methodology and to deliver a benchmark on the levels and impact of counterfeiting to the UK.
