The Government Car Service (GCS) contracts in this financial year have already been let for cars due for replacement.

Contracts were let and delivered by Jaguar Land Rover leaving one outstanding contract with Ford Motor Co. for vehicles needed to fulfil special operational requirements.

GCS recognise the merits of awarding contracts to a UK based manufacturer and the positive effect it has on the supply chain. It is also a great promotion of British manufacturing when Ministers are seen in UK manufacturers products.

In October 2016, we announced an improved compensation scheme under which rail passengers, including rail season ticket holders, will be able to claim compensation if their train is delayed by 15 minutes or more. ‘Delay Repay 15’, (DR15) which provides compensation of 25% of the cost of the single ticket or 25% of the cost of the relevant portion of the return ticket for delays of between 15 and 29 minutes, has been introduced on Govia Thameslink Railway services and is being rolled out more widely across DfT-franchised Train Operating Companies, starting with South Western, West Midlands and South Eastern.

DR15 will be contracted as a requirement for new DfT franchises when contracts come up for renewal. We have also asked a number of train operating companies for proposals to implement DR15 before their contract expires; and will introduce DR15 if the proposals are affordable and represent value for money for taxpayers.

The Secretary of State is seeking powers through the Hybrid Bill to construct the HS2 scheme as set out in that Bill. This does not include a new station adjacent to Curzon Street as proposed. There are a range of potential infrastructure schemes, such as new stations, which could further increase connections for the travelling public above and beyond the scheme set out in the Bill. The Department is not evaluating the case for such proposals and will therefore not undertake a study on a new station to serve Curzon Street. The Department will continue to work with local authorities who are taking the lead in identifying and evaluating options for wider connectivity that will extend the benefits offered by HS2.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1562", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sir Robert Goodwill"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Scarborough and Whitby"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr Robert Goodwill"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2014-09-02", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2014-09-02T14:21:04.329727Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "27"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Transport"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Transport"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2014-07-21", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Railways: Birmingham"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will initiate a study into adding a halt on the Lichfield Trent Valley to Redditch cross-city line at Curzon Street in Birmingham adjacent to the proposed Birmingham High Speed 2 (HS2) station to enhance connectivity with HS2 and with Birmingham City University and Millennium Point; and if he will make a statement.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/280", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Michael Fabricant"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Lichfield"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Michael Fabricant"} ], "uin" : "206679"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/43868", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for Transport"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/43868/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

No decision has yet been made on Phase Two as we are still considering the responses to the public consultation. Sir David Higgins's proposals would see the Government's preferred route to Crewe, which formed part of the recent Phase Two consultation, constructed earlier. Therefore, it is not anticipated that Sir David's proposal alone would affect the route through the Lichfield constituency. However, the route of Phase Two through the Lichfield constituency is clearly subject to the outcomes of the recent public consultation.

The powers for Phase Two, including the section of line to Crewe, are proposed to be sought via a second hybrid Bill. As such the connection to the West Coast Main Line as part of the Phase One Bill is still required to allow Phase One to operate effectively and to enable destinations such as Stafford to benefit from high speed services.
