The Government is determined to tackle the appalling crime of domestic violence and abuse. Funding and service support is available to all victims including those from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities. In 2015/16, the Home Office is providing £120,000 in 2015/16 to the charity Broken Rainbow to run a dedicated national helpline specifically for the LGBT community. The Portuguese approach to drugs was reviewed within \u2018Drugs: International Comparators\u2019 published in October 2014.<\/em> The report is clear that the successes in Portugal cannot be attributed to decriminalisation alone. Whilst drug use went down and health outcomes improved, there was, at the same time, a significant investment in treatment.<\/p> <\/p> This Government has no intention of decriminalising drugs. UK law recognises only male and female gender and to introduce a third category denoted by an \u2018X\u2019 would require a change in primary legislation. We would not envisage the passport being changed in isolation without legislative change, as there would be an impact on other areas such as sex discrimination, nationality, adoption, human embryology, immigration, and gender recognition. Such a change would need to be on the basis that it was required by law, that it provided additional benefits to the applicant, and that the high standards of public and personal safety achieved by the UK passport were not diluted. We continue to monitor the situation and work with colleagues and interested parties in the UK and internationally. However, there are no current plans to change domestic legislation to add to or remove the male and female gender, or to make this change to the passport process<\/p>"}
