The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the expert committee that advises Ministers on immunisation related issues, considered the safety of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in June 2015. It considered reports made to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and also published literature. It concluded that it had no concerns about the safety of the HPV vaccine. The JCVI strongly supported continued use of the HPV vaccine to prevent infection with HPV and reduce cases of cervical cancer and other HPV associated cancers. The minutes of the meeting will be published later in the year.<\/p>

European regulators are aware of the reports emerging from Denmark, including reports of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and these remain under review. At this time the evidence does not support a causative link between HPV vaccination and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.<\/p>

The safety of HPV vaccines remain under continual review and appropriate action will be taken if any important new risks are confirmed.<\/p>

An expectation that social care providers provide appropriate training to all other relevant staff.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> - All relevant social care staff working with adults and older people accessing social care services being supported to spot the early signs and symptoms of dementia and helping people with the condition to access high quality care and support.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> - A clear evidence base for what works in training on dementia for health and social care staff, which can be used to develop smarter education and training programmes.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> This builds on the progress already made under the Prime Minister\u2019s Challenge on Dementia 2012-2015. This includes over 100,000 social care workers having already received some form of dementia awareness training. Moreover, the Department funded the College of Social Work to develop guidance to improve the quality of practice and inform continuous professional development (CPD) for social workers, to enable high quality care and support for people with dementia and their carers.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> Expenditure on adult social care and the future demand for services will be reviewed as part of the Spending Review.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> This year, the Better Care Fund will provide £5.3 billion of investment in better integrated care, based on joint plans that have been developed locally, and putting resources where the local NHS and social services think it is needed.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> Spending on social care is ultimately a local decision made by individual councils.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> <\/p> The Care Act 2014 also came into force on 1 April 2015.
