Local Authorities have direct responsibility to produce shoreline management plans covering the entire coast of England. These plans provide a long term, sustainable policy framework for local authorities, to manage the risk of coastal change over the next 100 years.<\/p>

Government is working closely with coastal authorities on a review of shoreline management plans to ensure they are up to date and using the best evidence. Schemes within the current capital investment programme to 2021 benefit from £1.2 billion of investment in coastal erosion and sea flooding projects which will better protect over 170,000 properties.<\/p>

An assessment of England\u2019s municipal waste treatment capacity \u2013 including incineration with energy recovery \u2013 was set out in the Resources and Waste Strategy and the associated Evidence Annex published in December 2018. Primary responsibility for deer management lies with local landowners. Defra and the Forestry Commission are members of the Deer Initiative Partnership which brings together land management and conservation organisations, with the shared goal of sustainable deer management. The Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants estimates that the mortality burden of the air pollution mixture (based on both PM2.5 <\/sub>and NO2<\/sub>) in the UK is equivalent to 28,000 to 36,000 deaths per year. Mortality burden is a statistical way of assessing the impact of diseases and pollution. Deaths of individuals are not attributed directly to air quality.
