The Government will create the UK Shared Prosperity Fund once we have left the European Union. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund will strengthen the foundations of productivity as set out in our modern Industrial Strategy to support people to benefit from economic prosperity. This new Fund will ensure that investments are targeted effectively to align with the challenges faced by places, creating a fresh opportunity to focus investment according to our own priorities. We are continuing to work on the design and priorities and we will consult widely on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This will give all interested parties the chance to contribute their views to Government. Since Budget 2016 the Government has introduced a range of business rates measures in England, worth over £13 billion over the next five years. These include doubling Small Business Rate Relief from 50 per cent to 100 per cent for eligible businesses and raising the threshold for 100 per cent relief from £6,000 to £12,000. As a result, over 655,000 small businesses –a third of all rateable properties – pay no business rates at all. We have also switched the annual indexation of business rates from the retail price index to the consumer price index, representing a cut in business rates every year. This Department has policy responsibility for setting the national framework for housing, including homelessness and rough sleeping in England.

The Government is committed to reducing homelessness and rough sleeping. No one should ever have to sleep rough. That is why last summer we published the cross-government Rough Sleeping Strategy. This sets out an ambitious £100 million package to help people who sleep rough now, but also puts in place the structures that will end rough sleeping once and for all. The Government has now committed over £1.2 billion to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping over the spending review period.

Ahead of the Rough Sleeping Strategy we announced a new Rough Sleeping Initiative in order to have an immediate impact on reducing the levels of rough sleeping. Measures within the initiative include:
