The Department for Education will invest over £23 billion on school buildings between 2016-17 and 2020-21 financial years, taking account of efficiencies and savings announced by the Secretary of State on 17 July 2017. The Secretary of State announced an additional £1.3 billion for schools and high needs across 2018-19 and 2019-20, in addition to the schools budget set at Spending Review 2015. As a result, core funding for schools will rise from almost £41 billion in 2017-18 to £42.4 billion in 2018-19 and £43.5 billion in 2019-20.<\/p>
