In October 2017, the Government estimated that the total cost of Monarch\u2019s repatriation operation would be £60m. The actual cost of repatriation is estimated to be about £50m and the Government does not expect this number to change significantly.<\/p>

The Williams Rail Review is looking at the current franchising system and considering how it can best support the public and private sector to work together, while delivering benefits for passengers, freight and taxpayers.<\/p>

The Department will publish a White Paper on the review\u2019s recommendations, with the implementation of reforms planned to start from 2020. The search and rescue and salvage response to the grounding of the Norwegian registered fishing vessel, Northguider, was coordinated by the Norwegian authorities; the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency was not involved in the response.<\/p>
<\/p>
The grounding occurred on 28 December 2018, and the Norwegian authorities have not provided information from any investigation of the incident. As such it would be premature to attempt to draw any conclusions on potential lessons to be learned.<\/p>
