The UK will seek to maintain the relationships and cooperation it currently enjoys with non-EU partners and international organisations as it exits the EU. Our priority is to ensure continuity, and we recognise the need to promote stability for business and individuals.<\/p>
<\/p>
To fully convert EU law into UK law and provide maximum certainty and continuity as we leave the EU, the EU (Withdrawal) Bill will, subject to Parliamentary approval, incorporate into UK law the directly effective rights and obligations in the EU treaties and related international agreements which are already available in our domestic law. The Bill also gives ministers a temporary power to make regulations to prevent or remedy breaches of international obligations arising from withdrawal.<\/p>

In addition, the Department for Exiting the European Union, in conjunction with other Departments, is working with our international partners to identify the full range of international agreements that will be impacted by our exit from the EU, including mixed agreements. As outlined in the Government future partnership paper on foreign policy, defence and development, we are open to considering options and models for participation in the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) after we have left the EU. Any decisions on the terms of UK participation in the EDIDP will form part of our wider negotiations.<\/p>

On 15 December the European Council confirmed that sufficient progress had been made to move onto the second phase of negotiations relating to our future partnership with the EU.<\/p>

The millions of small and medium sized businesses throughout Britain make a significant contribution to our country through taxes, employing people and through the value of the goods and services they provide.<\/p>
<\/strong><\/p> The Government engages widely and regularly with small businesses from across the economy through attendance at industry events and visits to locations across the UK. Ministers work closely with representative bodies such as the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to secure the best possible deal for the United Kingdom. In July, the FSB hosted a small business roundtable attended by Government Ministers. The FSB are also regularly invited to the Business Advisory Group, a forum of business representative organisations who regularly meet with senior Cabinet Ministers, including DExEU Secretary of State David Davis, to highlight their concerns regarding EU exit.<\/p> <\/strong><\/p> Details of Ministerial meetings are published in the Department\u2019s Quarterly Transparency Returns, which are made publicly available on GOV.UK.<\/p> <\/p>"}
