This includes expenditure at supplier level and the amount for project and Consultancy services. This information can be accessed for spend on the .Gov portal and for contracts on the Contracts finder website.<\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p>British taxpayers expect all ODA to be high quality and well-targeted, and since 2010, value for money and transparency of UK official development assistance (ODA) has been a top priority for DFID. In the last 5 years, DFID has worked hard to make its systems and processes more rigorous to make sure that aid projects reach intended beneficiaries and deliver results, including introducing greater ministerial oversight and new spending controls. Business cases and delivery plans are used for all DFID projects setting out the rationale for the projects and how they will be implemented. Formal project reviews are required annually and at completion against a performance monitoring framework. These reviews assess and record that funds have been used for their intended purposes and what results have been delivered. DFID has also reduced the number of bilateral country programmes since 2010. DFID also directly supports major water projects through UNICEF, which aim to provide long-term and sustainable water access in Nepal.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>I have just approved a major additional investment to a rural access programme, which takes the UK\u2019s investment in roads in Nepal to over £70m, to include benefits in earthquake affected areas. This funding will be deployed to provide life-saving activities (water and sanitation infrastructure, shelter, health and food rations).<\/p><p> <\/p><p>We have deployed human resources to improve the quality of the response (a secondment to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to work with the country team in Burundi to strengthen coordination and planning, as well as a DFID Humanitarian Advisor to work with Tanzania and Rwanda DFID offices to monitor the situation and develop appropriate programme responses).<\/p><p> <\/p><p>DFID is also the main donor to the international NGO consortium START network, which provides funding to international NGOs to rapidly respond to emergencies and build the capacity of local NGOs. DFID has provided £13.7million to the network for its global operations since April 2014. To support the humanitarian response to the Burundian situation, START has so far released £442,327 in Burundi, £275,281 in Rwanda, £ 430,203 in Tanzania and £330,000 in the DRC.<\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p>DFID continues to work closely with the FCO to monitor the situation in Burundi and in the surrounding areas and to work with our partners to respond to needs on the ground.<\/p>"}
