As an employer, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) takes its duties in recovering child support maintenance very seriously. The MOD has a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) to facilitate the direct deduction of child maintenance payments from the pay of non-resident parents who are Service personnel.<\/p>
Where a parent asks the CMS to help obtain appropriate child support from a Service person, the MOD will assist the CMS in engaging with the Service person and will implement any Deduction from Earnings Request submitted by the CMS. This mechanism can also be applied to Service pensions and civilian pay.<\/p>
The only exception is when the Service person is in an operational zone. Under the terms of the MOU, if a Service person is committed to operations, their Commanding Officer may delay any engagement with the CMS until the non-resident parent is in a position to consider any papers that the CMS may send them and respond appropriately.<\/p>

It is not the case that Armed Forces personnel in the Falkland Islands do not receive free wifi. Cards providing 100 minutes of wifi internet access are issued at no cost to Armed Forces personnel. The number of cards received is dependent on tour length as follows:<\/p>

nine to 12 months tour - two cards a week<\/p>
12 months plus unaccompanied - four cards a week<\/p>
In addition to the cards, an internet cafe is available where personnel can access up to 45 minutes of Skype and internet browsing time per day.<\/p>

There are currently 926 Service Family accommodation properties in Colchester. On 30 September 2014, 124 of these were unoccupied.<\/p>
Of these 124 unoccupied, 50 were three-bedroomed and 29 were four-bedroomed properties.<\/p>
The Ministry of Defence always maintains a management margin of vacant properties, in order to ensure that properties are available for incoming families and to allow for essential maintenance.<\/p>
36 of the 124 properties have since been allocated to families. They are due to move in these in the near future.<\/p>

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is firmly committed to reducing its energy consumption across the Estate. Data about the proportion of lighting on the MOD estate which is LED is not held centrally. However, under the Energy Spend-to-Save programme, which was developed following the 2010 Strategic Defence and Security Review, £32.5 million was spent on lighting projects at approximately 160 sites. Discussions between Ministry Of Defence (MOD) and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) are continuing regarding the transfer of maintenance responsibility for the graves of military personnel buried in the UK since 1945. Furthermore, during the most recent discussions the CWGC has indicated a willingness to take over the maintenance work.
The MOD is now in the process of compiling specific information to assist a detailed analysis by the CWGC and we are striving to reach a conclusion at the earliest possibility.<\/p>"}

Home-Start has received payments totalling £40,335 from the Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant Scheme for two projects in the UK. No funding has been awarded to the charity for any projects in Germany, Cyprus or elsewhere abroad.<\/p>
<\/p>
The Community Covenant Grant Scheme (CCGS) is a fund of £30 million designed to support projects at the local level that strengthen ties between members of the Armed Forces community and the wider community.<\/p>
<\/p>
An application for funding can be submitted by any part of the community (e.g. volunteer groups, charities and public bodies such as schools) firstly through the Community Covenant partnership and if endorsed at that level, to the regional panels up and down the country. Although this is the last year of the CCGS, from 2015 the Armed Forces Covenant fund will launch with £10 million per year made available to fund projects supporting the Armed Forces.<\/p>
