The Romford constituency falls within the remit of the London Borough of Havering. The Government made Prevent a statutory duty in July 2015. The Duty requires all local authorities, including Havering, to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.<\/p>
A Home Office peer review of Havering\u2019s delivery of the Prevent duty in January 2019 found that Havering had a strong approach to delivering the Prevent programme, which aims to prevent vulnerable individuals being drawn into terrorism. The Borough has a wide training and engagement programme for schools, colleges, childcare providers and children\u2019s services. The UK has a proud history of providing protection to those that need it \u2013 and this Government is committed to ensuring that refugees can take posi-tive steps towards integration as they rebuild their lives in the UK.<\/p>
The Government response to the consultation on the Integrated Communities Strategy (ICS) and action plan was published on GOV.UK on 9th February. Refugees can access all integration measures in the ICS and have access to mainstream benefits and services. This includes healthcare, education, English language tuition and Job Centre work coaches. The Home Office is working with other Government departments to ensure these services meet the needs of refugees.<\/p>
