The types of cases prosecuted by the CPS have changed significantly in the period between 2008 and 2018. Prosecutions for more serious and complex cases have risen, including a 5% increase in homicide, a 17% increase in fraud and forgery and a 28% increase in sexual offences cases. The Johnston Press Pension Plan is currently in the Pension Protection Fund\u2019s (PPF) assessment period, where it will be assessed whether the scheme\u2019s funding level is sufficient to secure pensions to its members at least equal to the level of compensation the PPF would pay. If the scheme\u2019s funding is not sufficient, then it will transfer into the PPF and compensation will be paid at 100 per cent for individuals over their scheme\u2019s retirement age at the date of the insolvency, and 90 per cent of the member\u2019s accrued benefits, subject to an overall cap for everyone else. Benefits accrued post 1997 will be linked to PPF indexation going forward.<\/p>

The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 apply to most workplaces. There is more specific legislation for construction sites, namely the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).<\/p>

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or Local Authority, as the relevant enforcing authority, will follow up complaints regarding unsuitable welfare facilities at workplaces.<\/p>
