The UK Government notes with concern the prevalence of organ trafficking in Egypt, which has been illegal in Egypt since 2010. Tackling the issue is a matter for the Egyptian authorities. However, organ harvesting can be a symptom of poverty in a society. The UK continues to help the Egyptian Government complete its programme of economic reforms and to support the population through this process. For example, we will be providing a $150 million loan guarantee in order to support these reforms.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1201", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Alistair Burt"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "North East Bedfordshire"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Alistair Burt"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2017-07-05", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2017-07-05T14:14:12.677Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "16"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2017-06-27", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Egypt: Organs"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions he has had with his counterparts in Egypt on tackling illegal organ harvesting.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4131", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jim Shannon"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Strangford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Jim Shannon"} ], "uin" : "1349"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/733009", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for International Trade"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/733009/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The Government expects social media companies, and internet platforms, to have robust processes in place and to act promptly when all forms of abuse, including cyber bullying is reported. That includes acting quickly to removing inappropriate content, and where appropriate, suspending or terminating the accounts of those breaching the rules in place. We are continuing to work closely with industry.
