The Department for Exiting the European Union is working closely with the Home Office to consider the range of options as to how migration of EU nationals might work once we have left. We are assessing the pros and cons of each potential option, including how EU nationals might be treated compared to others under these options.<\/p>
Our ambition is to create an immigration system that allows us to control numbers and encourage the brightest and the best to come to this country, as part of a stable and prosperous future with the EU and our European partners.<\/p>
The Government will bring forward legislation in the next session that, when enacted, will repeal the European Communities Act 1972 and ensure a functioning statute book on the day we leave the EU. This Great Repeal Bill will end the authority of EU law and return power to the UK. <\/strong><\/p>"}

The Bill will preserve EU-derived legislation, including applicable European Court of Justice (ECJ) case law where appropriate, as it applies in the UK on exit day.
The Government will set out the content of the Bill and its implications in due course.
