The death of any rough sleeper is a tragedy. That is why this Government has committed to halve rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminate it altogether by 2027. Establishing the causes of death for any person in the UK is a matter for medical professionals or coroners.<\/p>
Local areas and homelessness services often hold detailed information about the people who sleep rough in their area, including about rough sleepers who have died where this information is available them.<\/p>
We are overhauling the statutory homelessness data collection alongside the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act. This will give us better insights into the causes of homelessness and the support people need. The new statutory homelessness data collection will be called H-CLIC.<\/p>
The first meeting of the Rough Sleeping and Homelessness Reduction Taskforce took place on the 7 March. The Taskforce will drive forward the implementation of a cross-Government strategy to reduce rough sleeping.<\/p>
We have allocated over £1 billion through to 2020 to prevent and reduce all forms of homelessness including piloting a Housing First approach for some of the most entrenched rough sleepers.<\/p>"}

The Decent Homes backlog programme provided £1.76 million of funding to local authorities between 2011/16 to tackle their backlog of non-decent homes.<\/p>
The funding by year as follows:-<\/p>
2011/12 - £300 million<\/p>
2012/13 - £394 million<\/p>
2013/14 - £431 million<\/p>
2014/15 - £474 million<\/p>
2015/16 - £160 million<\/p>
There was no government funding in years 2009/10 or 2010/11. The number of social homes failing to meet the Decent Homes standard is down by 55 per cent since 2007 (between 2007 and 2016), with over 626,000 local authority homes brought up to standard since 2009.<\/p>
Since the Local Government Self Financing Settlement in 2012 we expect local authorities to use their rental income to maintain the standard.<\/p>"}

Time spent in temporary accommodation means people are getting help and it ensures no family is without a roof over their head. The law is clear that households with dependent children should only be accommodated in B&B in an emergency and then for no longer than 6 weeks<\/p>
Our new Homelessness Advice and Support Team, drawn from local authorities and the homelessness sector, is providing support to local authorities to help them address their homelessness challenges, including the use of B&B accommodation for families.<\/p>
We are taking unprecedented action to change how we tackle homelessness and rough sleeping. We have committed £1 billion through to 2020 to support local services and changing how local authorities operate by implementing the Homelessness Reduction Act from 3 April 2018 to help more people get tailored support sooner when they are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.<\/p>"}

The Government condemns all forms of discrimination, intolerance and hate crime including that perpetrated against Christians. 'Action against Hate' the UK Government's plan for tackling hate crime specifically mentions hate crime perpetrated against Christians. We are also supporting work through the police online portal True Vision to conduct a survey on the nature and number of hate crimes perpetrated against Christians. My predecessor, Marcus Jones MP, held discussions with officials in his own department (Communities and Local Government) and with officials at the Department for Work and Pensions. He also held meetings with providers of refuge accommodation.<\/p>
Under the short-term supported accommodation model, an individual\u2019s entitlement to Housing Benefit remains unchanged, rather we are removing their liability to pay rent at a vulnerable point in their lives.<\/p>
We are undertaking a review of how domestic abuse services, are provided across England. The review will cover funding for refuges, including critical care and support costs, and will be completed by summer 2018.<\/p>
