The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence clinical guideline \u2018Obesity: Guidance on the prevention, identification, assessment and management of overweight and obesity in adults and children\u2019 published in 2006, makes recommendations on the treatment of obese patients. The guideline outlines that patients who are overweight or obese should be assessed for a number of conditions, including osteoarthritis.<\/p>

Data on obesity are collected via the Health Survey for England. For children, the data are presented for age groups 2-10, 11-15 and 2-15. Adults are classified as those aged over 16.<\/p>
