As a result we only channel support through organisations with a strong record of delivering and monitoring assistance, such as UN agencies and international NGOs.<\/p><p>To identify the most vulnerable, UN agencies use a range of tools such as household level assessments. Some, like the World Food Programme, use technology such as biometric verification to confirm that those most in need are being reached.<\/p><p>Through UK diplomatic channels we press authorities to facilitate aid delivery. This can include getting visas issued or travel permission granted for certain areas.<\/p><p>Earlier this year the UK brought together heads of UN agencies and lead donors to determine how to better coordinate on the ground to deliver the right interventions at the right time to the most vulnerable. The Humanitarian Coordinator is holding UN agencies to account to deliver this.<\/p>"}

The UN estimates that 35,000 people have been displaced since the fighting escalated, with the area becoming increasingly challenging for humanitarian actors, who are struggling to gain access.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Humanitarian agencies, including the World Food Programme, continue to operate across Al Dhale\u2019e under extremely difficult circumstances in order to provide vital assistance such as food, healthcare and clean water.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>The UK is clear that there can be no military solution to this conflict. A political settlement is the only way to provide long term stability to Yemen and address the worsening humanitarian crisis; we encourage further constructive engagement from both parties to achieve this.<\/p>"}
