In general, the terms and conditions of employment are for negotiation and agreement between employers and employees (or their representatives). Once agreed, however, they form a legally binding contract of employment. While it is always open to either party to seek to renegotiate the terms of the contract, if the employer changes any of the terms without the employee\u2019s agreement, the employee may be entitled to seek legal redress.<\/p>

Additionally, employees who consider that their dismissal was unfair can complain to an employment tribunal, generally subject to a qualifying period of continuous service.<\/p>

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published the findings of its review of Whirlpool\u2019s tumble dryer modification programme on 4 April. The review found that there is a low risk of harm or injury from lint fires in modified machines.<\/p>

OPSS has written to Whirlpool setting out the actions it must take, including using more creative ways to reach affected consumers to minimise the risk of faulty machines still being in people\u2019s homes. Whirlpool has 28 days to respond from the date of the letter setting out what further actions it will take. In order to develop the evidence base, officials have reviewed the existing literature, research and data sources. They are currently engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including the RSPCA and the British Fireworks Association to further develop a balanced and fact-based evidence base. The work includes considering market related information such as sales and the impact on individuals, animals and communities.<\/p>
The work will also consider the findings of House of Commons Petitions inquiry on fireworks and the Scottish Government consultation on fireworks. This Government is committed to cracking down on employers who fail to pay the National Minimum and Living Wage (NMW). We almost doubled HM Revenue & Customs\u2019 (HMRC) budget to enforce the NMW from £13.2 million to £26.3 million between 2015/16 and 2018/19.<\/p>
<\/p>
This increase in resources enabled HMRC to identify a record £15.6 million of arrears for more than 200,000 workers in 2017/18. These totals include arrears worth £469,468 owed to 6,526 workers in relation to food and beverage service employers.<\/p>
<\/p>
In addition to undertaking proactive enforcement work in high risk sectors, HMRC respond to each and every worker complaint received. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (CPRs) prohibit traders giving consumers false or misleading information about goods and services including reviews on their websites.
