This survey has been utilised as part of the assessment of the M6 Junction 10 improvement scheme promoted by both Highways England and Walsall Council.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>An Environmental Statement which was undertaken for the improvement scheme involved undertaking air quality modelling to predict the impact of the Scheme on air quality. The full assessment can be viewed on Walsall Councils planning website (<a href=\"https://go.walsall.gov.uk/planningm6j10\" target=\"_blank\">https://go.walsall.gov.uk/planningm6j10<\/a>).<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Walsall have developed an air quality action plan as part of its duties to improve air quality; the M6 between junctions 9 and 10a is within Walsall Council\u2019s Air Quality Management Area (AQMA).<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Highways England will support local authorities as they explore options for their local air quality plans.<\/p>"}

It is for them to ensure any temporary signs placed do not stay in place beyond the legal time limit.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Reducing sign clutter was one of the principle aims of the recent revision of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD). This came into force on 22 April 2016, and relaxed many requirements on the use and placing of signs to enable local authorities to place fewer signs.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>DfT Circular 01/2016 published alongside TSRGD 2016 includes a section on decluttering, highlighting these changes and making it clear that the Department expects authorities to make use of these to reduce the amount of sign clutter on the roads.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>We are in the process of revising our good practice guidance on sign design and placement, the Traffic Signs Manual, to reflect the changes made in TSRGD. This will emphasise decluttering throughout.<\/p>"}
