The Department encourages the train operators and Network Rail to continue to increase provision for bike storage at stations where there is demand to do so. Network Rail\u2019s estate is large and varied, and includes railway tunnels, cuttings and bridges, all of which offer habitats for animals to thrive in. Network Rail manages these habitats sensitively in order to encourage biodiversity while ensuring the safety of the railway. They do not hold data on any tunnels under railway lines that may have been specifically built for hedgehogs.<\/p>
Highways England use a range of mitigation measures to reduce any danger to animals in the delivery of their schemes. These include tunnels, culverts, underpasses, adapted farm crossings and species-specific structures. They do these for a range of animals, not specifically for hedgehogs. Appropriate fencing and planting may also be included to encourage use of the crossings and/or to integrate them within the surrounding environment.<\/p>"}

Over the last five years a further 68 stations were added to the Department\u2019s Access for All programme which provides an accessible route at selected stations. A further £300m has recently been made available to further extend the programme until at least 2024 and we will announce details of which stations will benefit from this in April. This is in addition to access improvements delivered as part of other major projects, such as the 40 Crossrail stations which will be made accessible, and by the industry itself, which must meet current accessibility standards whenever it installs, replace or renews station infrastructure. At the Treasury Committee, he made a broader point about workforce productivity. Both the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Office for Budget Responsibility have suggested that increasing overall employment may have had an effect on measures of productivity. The National Infrastructure Commission is tasked with providing the government with impartial, expert advice on major long-term infrastructure challenges. The Commission has published six main reports since it was established in October 2015:<\/p>

The main measures to mitigate noise are new road surfacing and noise barriers. Highways England has three resurfacing schemes in their forward programme for this area. The resurfacing will be done after essential repairs to bridge structures have been completed to avoid disruption to users of the M5.<\/p>
Later this month works to inspect the condition of the noise fence from junction 11A to Gloucester Painswick bridge which covers the Upton St Leonards section of the M5 motorway will start and opportunities for a temporary noise barrier looked at.<\/p>
