The Government\u2019s believes that the best way to meet the UK\u2019s steel needs over the next twelve months and five years is to ensure a viable future for the steel industry in Britain, as well as to work for fair and open global steel markets. To this end we have taken action on the five short-term asks of the steel industry, for example on unfairly-traded imports, energy costs, procurement, and emissions regulations.<\/p>
<\/p>
A new Steel Council will provide a forum for industry, unions and government to consider how to improve the competitive position of the UK steel sector in the longer term. We will continue to work actively with partners in this sector, local taskforces and the EU and International Community to support our steel industry.<\/p>

Eligible personnel make a personal contribution of 20% of total course fees and can receive a single payment, in each of a maximum of three separate financial years, of up to £1,000 or £2,000 (depending on qualifying scheme membership) to cover up to a maximum of 80% of course fees. The ELC scheme helps members of the Armed Forces to pursue their personal development, both during their Service and for up to ten years afterwards, subject to the qualifying criteria being met.<\/p> ELC claims must be for a course of study that is an integral part of, and results in, the cost effective achievement of a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 (A level and equivalent) and above as defined by the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) (England and Wales), a Level 6 or above on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) or, if pursued overseas, an approved international equivalent higher level qualification.
