The Government\u2019s extensive Severn Tidal Power feasibility study and the recent work as part of the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon Contract for Difference negotiations show that costs for tidal lagoons may be broadly comparable to other tidal range technologies. However, the detailed relative costs of projects will be dependent on their geographical location, individual design and financing models.<\/p>

We have not made any comparative assessment of costs with tidal stream technologies, which are at a very early stage of development and have a highly different asset-life to tidal range.<\/p>

The independent review, which Government announced on 10 February, will focus exclusively on tidal lagoons. It will not extend to other forms of tidal technology such as barrages or tidal stream arrays.<\/p>
In October 2010, the Department published the results of the Severn Tidal Power: Feasibility Study<\/em>. The review concluded it did not see a strategic case for public investment in a tidal barrage in the Severn estuary, but the outcome of the feasibility study did not preclude a privately financed scheme. This conclusion still stands<\/p> <\/p>
Tidal stream technologies operate on a fundamentally different basis to tidal lagoons. It would not, therefore be appropriate to include them within the scope of the review.<\/p>

Rivers can supply renewable energy in two main ways: they can provide hydro-electric power, and they can provide heat for water-sourced heat pumps.<\/p>
The Department published a digital water source heat map in March 2015. The map estimates the potential thermal capacity of rivers, estuaries, canals and coastal sites in England. The map seeks to raise awareness of this potential source of renewable heat which can be utilised through the deployment of water source heat pumps supplying district heating networks and other users.<\/p>
The map estimates the total heat capacity from the River Ouse at 505 Megawatts, enough to potentially heat 74,000 homes, subject to environmental and other location-specific consents.<\/p>
Water source heat pumps are eligible for support through the Renewable Heat Incentive and heat network projects taken forward by Local Authorities can apply for support from the Heat Network Delivery Unit.<\/p>"}

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a statutory obligation placed by Government on the largest energy suppliers requiring them to promote and install energy efficiency measures in domestic properties. This includes park homes. DECC statistics show that 257 park homes have benefited from ECO measures up to 31 March 2015). These statistics are available in full here:<\/p>

The Government is committed to taking action to ensure that the criminal regime for financial market abuse is strong and robust. In September 2014 the Government consulted on whether the regulatory regime put in place for LIBOR should be extended to seven other major benchmarks, based on recommendations from the Fair and Effective Markets Review. This regime includes the criminal offence of manipulating a \u2018relevant benchmark\u2019 either by making misleading statements or by creating a false or misleading impression of the value of investments that could affect such a benchmark. The list of benchmarks included the dominant benchmark for the foreign exchange market, WM/Reuters 4pm London Closing Spot Rate. The Government will announce its response to this consultation shortly.<\/p>
