We have received a number of representations regarding section 106, as we have for other uncommenced provisions from the Equality Act 2010, and we continue to keep these provisions under review. Equality is never a one-time fix and it is right that we should keep re-examining the issues.

This Parliament is the most gender and LGBT diverse ever, but there is still more to do. Political parties are responsible for their candidate selection and should lead the way in improving women’s representation. Many are already doing so.

The Government’s Suffrage Centenary Fund is supporting a number of projects that aim to increase women’s participation in politics, and earlier this year we announced funding for disabled candidates to meet the costs of campaigning, primarily for the forthcoming English local elections in 2019.
"}

Conversion therapy is wrong. We are determined to bring an end to this abhorrent practice and, as we said in the LGBT Action Plan, we are considering all legislative and non-legislative options to do this.

We recognise this is a complex issue that we need to get right. We want to engage widely, and listen carefully, so that we can develop a range of measures that end these practices for good. We are conducting more detailed research into the experiences of those that have undergone conversion therapy, and will task the LGBT Advisory Panel with looking into this issue as their first priority when they meet for the first time, in the new year.

Ending these practices will take time. It is crucial we get our response right so that we protect people from harm.
"}

Under new government legislation over 10,000 employers reported their gender pay gaps this year. These regulations increase transparency, driving board level discussions and pushing employers to take real action to close the gap.

We are now working with employers to help them understand their gender pay gaps, and support them to put plans in place to tackle gaps.

Mandatory gender pay gap reporting is just one of the steps government has taken to tackle the drivers of the gap including:

- introducing Shared Parental Leave and Pay and running a £1.5 million campaign to promote the scheme to eligible parents.

- extending the right to request flexible working and establishing a taskforce working with business to make flexible working a reality for all employees.

- creating a £5 million fund to support women and men who have been out of the labour market for a long period to return to work.

- spending around £6 billion on childcare support by 2019-20, around £3.5 billion of which is planned to be spent on free early education entitlements.

"}
