The Government takes its export control responsibilities extremely seriously.

The UK operates one of the most thorough and</del> robust export control regimes</ins> systems</del> in the world. The Government will not grant export licences where to do so would be inconsistent with the Consolidated EU and National Arms Exports Licensing Criteria, which include the respect for</ins> an assessment of</del> human rights and fundamental freedoms in the country of final destination. The Government will not grant a licence where there is a clear risk that the items to exported might be used for internal repression.</ins>

Extant licenses</del> licences</ins> can be revoked at any time if the situation changes in Cameroon and those licences are no longer assessed as being consistent with the licensing criteria</ins>.

The policy remains as announced to parliament in a Written Ministerial Statement on 25 March 2014: https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201314/cmhansrd/cm140325/wmstext/140325m0001.htm#140325660000
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1482", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Graham Stuart"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Beverley and Holderness"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Graham Stuart"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-11-23", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "true", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "previousAnswerVersion" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1010636/answer/previousversion/86882", "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1482", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Graham Stuart"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Beverley and Holderness"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Graham Stuart"} } , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-11-23T14:58:43.387Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ], "questionFirstMinisteriallyCorrected" : [{"_value" : "2018-11-26T11:00:41.847Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "202"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "International Trade"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "International Trade"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-11-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Arms Trade: Cameroon"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, whether his Department plans to review arms sales to the Government of Cameroon.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4657", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Anneliese Dodds"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Oxford East"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Anneliese Dodds"} ], "uin" : "193544"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1061252", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for International Trade"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1061252/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

UKEF publishes details of the support it provides in its Annual Report and Accounts.

UKEF’s mission is to ensure that no viable UK export fails for lack of finance or insurance from the private sector. UKEF supports exports in all sectors, including renewables. Its aim is only to provide support where there is a lack of private finance and its provision of support is demand-led and often counter-cyclical. The UK’s oil and gas sector is a significant contributor to the economy, but has seen low investment in recent years due to volatility in oil prices and the lack of financing needed to develop projects. UKEF has provided support for projects in developing markets, helping to improve energy affordability and accessibility.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1482", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Graham Stuart"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Beverley and Holderness"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Graham Stuart"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2019-02-22", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "true", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "previousAnswerVersion" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1061252/answer/previousversion/103827", "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1482", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Graham Stuart"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Beverley and Holderness"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Graham Stuart"} } , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2019-02-22T10:32:38.57Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ], "questionFirstMinisteriallyCorrected" : [{"_value" : "2019-03-25T10:44:20.917Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "202"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "International Trade"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "International Trade"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2019-02-14", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Fossil Fuels: Export Credit Guarantees"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what proportion of UK Export Finance support was allocated to the fossil fuels sector in each year since 2010.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/146", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Barry Gardiner"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Brent North"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Barry Gardiner"} ], "uin" : "221560"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1082542", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for International Trade"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1082542/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

Since the vote to leave the EU, and the formation of DIT, Scottish exports of goods and services have risen substantially. In the year to 2018Q2, Scottish exports of goods and services (excluding exports to the rest of the UK) totalled £32.4bn, an increase of 14.2% from the year to 2016Q2, but Scottish exports as % of Scottish GDP was 20.6% compared to 30.4% for UK exports as % of UK GDP (Sources: Scottish Government, GDP Quarterly National Accounts 2018Q2, ONS GDP First Quarterly Estimate 2018Q3).

Reaching our UK aim of 35% and exploiting the benefits of post-EU trade deals will be helped by significant improvement in Scottish exporting performance, greater awareness of DIT services in Scotland and the constructive support of the Scottish Government.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1482", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Graham Stuart"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Beverley and Holderness"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Graham Stuart"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-11-19", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-11-19T13:46:45.987Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "202"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "International Trade"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "International Trade"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-11-05", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Exports: Scotland"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what assessment he has made of the effect of leaving the EU on the export of Scottish goods and services.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1514", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Stewart Hosie"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Dundee East"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Stewart Hosie"} ], "uin" : "188051"} ], "itemsPerPage" : 10, "next" : "http://eldaddp.azurewebsites.net/answeredquestions.text?_page=1&min-date=2018-11-05&_properties=tablingMember.label,houseId,AnsweringBody,answer.answerText,answeringDeptId&answeringDeptSortName=International%20Trade&max-date=2019-03-06&_sort=-answer.isMinisterialCorrection", "page" : 0, "startIndex" : 1, "totalResults" : 347, "type" : "http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#Page"} }
