The Government will create the UK Shared Prosperity Fund once we have left the European Union. Under the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement, the UK will continue in the current round (2014-2020) of Structural Funds, including the European Regional Development Fund, as if it had remained a Member State.<\/p>

In a No Deal, the HM Government funding guarantee ensures that Structural Funds projects signed before the UK exits the EU will continue to be funded. The guarantee also enables new projects to be signed after exit until end 2020, with funding from HM Government replacing EU funding.<\/p>

Existing and future recipients of the European Regional Development Fund should continue to apply for funding through their existing Managing Authorities, as fund delivery bodies will remain the same after EU exit for the duration of the programmes. We will create the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) following our departure from the European Union. The new fund will tackle inequalities between communities by raising productivity, especially in those parts of our country whose economies are furthest behind.<\/p>
We know that places require certainty of funding after we leave the European Union. The draft Withdrawal Agreement guarantees the UK will continue to take part in the 2014-2020 EU programmes until they end. We continue to plan for all scenarios, including a no deal, in which, the government has extended this guarantee for the full EU 2014-20 programme. This provides certainty and clarity in the event of a no-deal and allows for a smooth transition to a domestic replacement.<\/p>
We will continue to engage widely ahead of a public consultation intended for later this year, providing all interested parties with an opportunity to convey their views. Under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014\u201320 Programme in England, the funding available has been allocated to Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas and it is then for these partners to inform central Government when and where investments in their respective areas take place. The ERDF is the main source of EU funding used to support infrastructure in localities. This is complemented by the European Social Fund (ESF) which is also allocated to LEP areas in England and supports employment, skills and social inclusion.<\/p>
The level of EU Structural Funds (the combination of the ERDF and the ESF) that has been allocated to each LEP area, including Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Heart of the South West and England can be found (attached) here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/eu-structural-funds-uk-allocations-2014-to-2020<\/a>.<\/p> The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly LEP area allocation is significantly greater than that of the Heart of the South West. This is because the EU categorises Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as \u2018a Less Developed Region\u2019 whereas it categorises Heart of the South West as \u2018a More Developed Region\u2019.
