On 12 October 2016 the House of Commons agreed to an amended Opposition motion which stated that the parliamentary scrutiny process should be undertaken in such a way that does not undermine the negotiating position of the Government as negotiations are entered into.<\/p>
On 7 December 2016 the House of Commons also voted in favour of an amended Opposition motion which stated that there should be no disclosure of material that could be reasonably judged to damage the UK in any negotiations to withdraw from the European Union after Article 50 has been triggered.<\/p>
<\/strong> The UK has been clear from the start that we want to make sure that the livelihoods of EU citizens in the UK and UK nationals in the EU will be protected after the UK leaves the EU.<\/p> In citizens\u2019 rights negotiations on professional qualifications, we have reached agreement with the Commission on the status of recognition decisions obtained by frontier workers and citizens who are resident in the other territory on the withdrawal date.<\/p> The Commission has not yet accepted our sensible proposal that qualifications that are in the course of being obtained by UK and EU students on the withdrawal date should continue to be recognised as they were before. However, we will seek to agree a continued system for the mutual recognition of professional qualifications and will continue to press the matter.<\/p> <\/p>"}
