Public Health England (PHE) has run a number of \u2018Be Clear on Cancer\u2019 campaigns to help improve early detection of cancer including ovarian cancer. In 2014 PHE ran a pilot regional ovarian cancer campaign in the North West of England. In 2017, PHE ran a pilot campaign in the East and West Midlands which focussed on a range of abdominal symptoms, such as diarrhoea, bloating and discomfort that can be indicative of a number of cancers, including ovarian cancer.<\/p>

NHS England has invested over £200 million between 2017 and 2019, supporting Cancer Alliances to accelerate diagnosis and enhance quality of life.<\/p>

Subject to Parliamentary approval, from 1 November doctors on the General Medical Council\u2019s specialist register can make the decision to prescribe cannabis-based products for medicinal use where deemed clinically appropriate and in the best interests of patients. Prescribers will need to follow local governance procedures for prescribing unlicensed medicines.<\/p>

<\/p>

The regulations do not limit the types of conditions that can be considered for treatment and will only be able to be supplied under the prescription or direction of a specialist doctor.<\/p>

Employers have a statutory responsibility to provide sufficient numbers of suitably qualified, competent staff to meet the needs of the people using health services, including those with a learning disability or learning difficulties.<\/p>

<\/p>

The Learning Disability Core Skills Education and Training Framework, published in July 2016 sets out the requisite skills and competencies that staff need to deliver care and support to people with a learning disability. The Framework sets out the necessary skills across three tiers: Tier 1, knowledge for roles that require general awareness of learning disabilities including for administrative roles; Tier 2, knowledge and skills for roles that will have some regular contact with people with a learning disability and Tier 3, knowledge and skills for those providing care and support for people with a learning disability.<\/p>

<\/p>

Health Education England (HEE) is currently producing e-Learning materials to support Tier 1 learning disability awareness training.<\/p>

<\/p>

HEE also uses a workforce development fund to support the ongoing development of staff, with spending focused on priority areas, including staff working with people with learning disabilities and or autism. All nurses should receive learning disabilities training as part of their pre-registration education.<\/p>
