Since the Yemen conflict started in 2015, our partners have reported two UK funded assets have been damaged by alleged airstrikes. These are a Norwegian Refugee Council warehouse in the Harradh area of Hajjah governorate on 21 June 2015 and a UNICEF water and sanitary health facility in Sahar district on 22 July 2018.<\/p>

We closely monitor such incidents, but we are not able to conduct investigations which would allow us to conclude which parties were responsible.<\/p>
<\/p>

The UK remains extremely concerned by constraints on humanitarian access within Yemen. We regularly raise obstructions to humanitarian access and aid distributions with all parties at the highest levels and call for compliance with the UN Security Council Resolution 2451.<\/p>

The Foreign Secretary discussed the issue of humanitarian access across Yemen with his Government of Yemen counterparts earlier this year, and on 17 July UK officials raised the issue with the Government of Yemen\u2019s Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed in Riyadh. I discussed it during my visit in the Gulf region last week. The UK is working with the Government of Yemen, Gulf partners, the UN, international financial institutions, and other donors on planning for Yemen\u2019s post-conflict recovery. This includes emphasising the importance of providing security, stabilising the economy, and delivering basic services. We will continue to work closely with all parties to support Yemen\u2019s recovery following any political settlement.<\/p>

We are also continuing our work to protect key institutions that will be critical to Yemen\u2019s future development. The international humanitarian response relies on national NGOs for aid delivery. This is the only way to reach the millions of Yemenis in need, including those in remote or difficult to reach areas. For example, over 50% of the delivery partners of the Yemen Humanitarian Pooled Fund (YHPF) are national NGOs. On 24 February, the Prime Minister announced that the UK will provide an additional £200 million in response to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen for the next financial year (2019/2020).<\/p>

This funding will be provided through UN agencies operating in Yemen, including the World Food Programme, UNICEF and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as well as international NGOs, including CARE. It will support these partners and others to provide millions of vulnerable Yemenis with cash and vouchers for food, treatment for malnutrition and disease, and to rehabilitate water and sanitation services.<\/p>
