The Government recognises there are concerns over the export of unweaned calves for fattening. The Government launched a call for evidence on improving animal welfare during transport after the UK leaves the EU, which included seeking information and evidence on the transport of unweaned animals. The call for evidence was issued on behalf of the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations. The call for evidence has now closed and we are currently analysing the responses. We will be discussing the evidence with the Devolved Administrations.<\/p>

The Government and the Devolved Administrations have also asked the Farm Animal Welfare Committee (FAWC) to look at what improvements could be made to the transport regulatory regime for all animals. Forest Holidays is a Joint Venture established under the Regulatory Reform (Forestry) Order 2006. Under the 2006 Agreement between Forest Holidays and the Forestry Commission, the Commission retained a 49% stake in the Joint Venture.<\/p>

A refinancing agreement was brokered in 2012 where the Forestry Commission interest in Forest Holidays represented 20% of the equity stake in the company.<\/p>

A further refinancing of Forest Holidays took place in 2017, whereby the Forestry Commission retained its full equity interest as a 13.4% stake in the business.<\/p>

The 20% voting rights that the Forestry Commission held in 2012 was linked to equity participation, and could be diluted down to a minimum of 10%. Voting rights that the Forestry Commission negotiated as part of the 2017 refinancing are fixed higher than equity share at 17.1% and are not subject to dilution. UK Coal Mining Ltd applied to Durham County Council on 11 December 2007 for planning permission to open the proposed Bradley Coal Mine. This was granted at appeal on 3 June 2015. The Environment Agency (EA) was consulted as a statutory requirement during Durham County Council\u2019s original consultation on the planning application. The EA considered the application and the accompanying Environmental Impact Assessment to consider any risks to controlled waters and how the site would be later restored, and requested further information on these aspects.
