While the volume of prosecutions in the Area have fallen by 39% during the 8 year period, it is important to be aware that the types of cases prosecuted by Merseyside and Cheshire CPS have changed significantly in the period between 2010 and 2018. The Area is prosecuting more serious and complex cases as evidenced by a 21% increase in homicide, a 23% increase in offences against the person and a 62% increase in sexual offences cases. During this period, minor motoring cases have fallen by 52% in the Area.
