Women and girls are still facing threats of violence and abuse and we will not stand by and let this continue.</p><p>This Government considers tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) a national emergency, and we are committed to halving levels of VAWG within the next decade.</p><p>This includes tackling public sexual harassment, which can have a devastating impact on victims and mean that women do not feel safe on our streets. The Protection from Sex-Based Harassment in Public Act 2023 will make it a specific offence and see perpetrators face up to 2 years in jail. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/11/2023 answer text <p>The 2021 Spending Review (SR) announced £259 million over the 2021 SR period to maintain capacity and expand provision in secure and open residential children’s homes.</p><p> </p><p>Following this announcement, the department launched several waves of bidding rounds for local authorities to submit applications for this funding for both open and secure children’s homes.</p><p> </p><p>A total of £80 million has been allocated to open children’s homes over two bidding rounds. The remaining £179 million is being allocated to secure children’s homes over two bidding rounds. This includes funding the development of two new Secure Children’s Homes in London and the West Midlands and a rebuild of an existing Secure Children’s Home in Lincolnshire, as well as a number of smaller projects to improve sufficiency in existing secure homes. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/05/2022 answer text <p>Since January 2021, one trainee has been awarded a bursary under the Troops to Teachers undergraduate bursary scheme. As they commenced their course in the 2021/22 academic year, the bursary will be paid in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic years.</p><p> </p><p>A further two trainees were in receipt of the bursary in the 2020/21 academic year, with one of these trainees receiving the remainder of their bursary in the 2021/22 academic year. The combined cost to the public purse of these two trainees since the 2020/21 academic year is £60,000. The department cannot disaggregate the exact amount paid since January 2021 because it makes payments to initial teacher training (ITT) providers as a proportion of their total funding spread from September to July, rather than an amount per trainee each month.</p><p> </p><p>The department is currently planning to publish information on outcomes for ITT trainees in the 2020/21 academic year in July 2022 which will be available here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/statistics-teacher-training" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/statistics-teacher-training</a>. However, data is not routinely published on Troops to Teachers.</p><p> </p><p>Veterans who have a degree can and do undertake postgraduate ITT courses, where they can access the bursaries and scholarships of up to £26,000 available on these routes into teaching.</p><p> </p><p>The department is committed to further promoting opportunities for service leavers to get into teaching. Many veterans already utilise department services to support service leavers into ITT each year. As part of the cross-government Veterans’ Strategy Action Plan: 2022-2024, the department has committed to increase collaboration with the Ministry of Defence to promote opportunities for service leavers to get into teaching, increasing signposting, events and communications tailored to veterans. We consider all our export applications thoroughly against a strict risk assessment framework and keep all licences under careful and continual review as standard procedure.</p><p> </p><p>HM Government takes its export responsibilities seriously and will continue to assess all export licences in accordance with the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria (the ‘Consolidated Criteria’). answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2019 answer text <p>Since we launched our Education and Employment Strategy in May 2018, we have overhauled the prison education system, allowing governors to commission skills-based training and education that meets the needs of the local labour market and helps prison leavers into work.</p><p> </p><p>We have introduced the New Futures Network, a specialist part of the Prison Service which brokers partnerships between prisons and employers in England and Wales to provide job opportunities for prisoners both in custody and on release. Additionally, we have established new rules to allow governors to get offenders out to work earlier on temporary licence. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/06/2015 answer text <p /> <p>Under an Agency Agreement with DECC, HSE leads on the regulation of the public safety aspects of DECC-owned legislation associated with the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity - the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002 (ESQCR). ESQCR 2002 apply only to Great Britain. There is a separate legislative framework in Northern Ireland, the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012, that are enforced by HSENI.</p><p> </p><p>These regulations place duties on companies involved in electricity generation and distribution to take proactive measures to advise the general public, including children and young people, of the hazards associated with power lines, and to educate them on how to avoid danger. There are no regulations in this area specifically targeted at children and young people.</p><p> </p><p>HSE holds regular meetings with the Energy Networks Association (ENA) that represent the distribution network operators (DNOs) for electricity and gas in the UK. These meetings are to encourage and support the industry’s health and safety management including compliance with ESQCR. HSE also has on-going regulatory contact with the individual DNOs to the same affect.</p><p> </p><p>Through such meetings HSE supports the ENA’s Public Safety Committee which concentrates on getting the safety message to all people that may get close to power lines.
