<p>The Government does not hold central information on the number of dead pets collected from roads and paths or the proportion that were scanned by the relevant local authority. However, Cats Protection provided briefing for the debate on 17 June which shows that according to their freedom of information request to councils in England, 80% of the 274 councils that replied scan cats involved in road accidents for a microchip.</p>
