In the immediate and long term, we are working with Pakistan to increase its ability to detect and disrupt improvised explosive devices, and to support capacity building and reform of the civilian criminal justice system so that those responsible for attacks are held to account in line with international standards on human rights. The Ministry of Defence continues to make improvements to the Service Family Accommodation (SFA) and Single Living Accommodation (SLA) estate.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to routine maintenance, we have invested in improving energy efficiency through the provision of new boilers, doors and windows, roofs, and external wall insulation.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, we have installed thousands of new kitchens and bathrooms to provide our Armed Forces and their families with modern facilities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/02/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence has no plans to create an Armed Forces Association.</p><p>I am satisfied that the interests of members of the Armed Forces as employees are suitably represented by the Chain of Command, SSAFA - the Armed Forces Charity, the Royal Naval Association, the Royal Air Force Association, the Veterans Association and a great many more Regimental Associations and groups around the country. Many of these associations also represent the veterans' community. However, given concerns expressed by Defence Medical Services personnel and the well-publicised discussions in the NHS and the Department of Health and Social Care, the Ministry of Defence has consulted internally on pension taxation, including the issue of tapering.</p><p>We recognise the current situation with pension taxation (including tapered annual allowance) is a risk to retention and are monitoring any associated increase in the outflow of personnel. There are many ways this is achieved, including the vital role provided by the Ministry of Defence Police.</p><p>Discussions are ongoing across the Department in order to ensure that our policing resources are deployed where they are most needed.
