The Department fully supports the Civil Service Reform Plan commitment to provide at least five days a year investment in learning and development for all Civil Servants. The Department’s personnel systems record when an employee joined the Civil Service rather than an individual department or agency.</p><p> </p><p>The increase in the median length of service between 2009/10 to 2011/12 is consistent with the ending of a significant number of temporary contracts in this period.
