We have set up a comprehensive programme to oversee the remediation of high-rise residential buildings with unsafe Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding.</p><p>The Health and Safety Executive, National Fire Chiefs Council and Local Authority Building Control are working together in consultation with the Local Government Association to coordinate a series of joint inspections on remedial works. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/01/2019 answer text <p>The Government expects landlords to protect leaseholders, where possible, from any disruption caused by the removal and replacement of unsafe cladding and to communicate with them regularly during this process. That includes programming and sequencing their work, in consultation with residents, to ensure that people are not unduly exposed to the cold.</p><p>When the external wall of a building is renovated or replaced, the work must comply with the energy efficiency requirements of the Building Regulations 2010. Residents who have concerns about heating costs may wish to contact the Government-funded Energy Saving Advice Service (ESAS) for independent information about energy efficiency.</p><p>In the social sector, the Regulator of Social Housing requires that homes in the social housing sector meet the Decent Homes Standard, which includes having efficient heating and effective insulation. As social landlords have responsibility for the overall standards of their buildings, we would expect them to take action and engage with residents to ensure disruption is reduced whilst the works are completed as quickly and safely as possible. In consultation with the Independent Expert Advisory Panel, the Government has provided advice to building owners about common non-Aluminium Cladding Material (ACM) external wall systems, including ones using Metal Composite Materials, High Pressure Laminates (HPL) or External Wall Insulation (EWI) with a render or brick-slip finish.</p><p>The Research commissioned into Non-ACM cladding has not yet completed. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/12/2018 answer text <p>In May, the Prime Minister announced that the Government would fully fund the removal and replacement of unsafe Aluminium Composite Material cladding systems on social residential buildings 18 metres and over owned by councils and housing associations. MHCLG is allocating £248 million to replace cladding on 135 buildings.</p><p>We will also provide financial flexibilities for local authorities who need to undertake other essential fire safety work, including retrofitting sprinklers where these are considered to be essential, but the Government is not providing funding for this work. Forty-four local authorities have contacted the department to discuss their options for funding fire safety work, including sprinklers, for buildings they own.
