We are providing as much support as possible to those personnel being made redundant.</p><p> </p><p>We estimate that, by 2021-22, we will have achieved cumulative savings of some £23 billion as a result of reductions in military and civilian personnel and greater efficiency in the conduct of non-front line activities.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>The Lightning II aircraft are being procured incrementally. To date the UK has ordered four F-35 B aircraft, three of which have been delivered. The approved cost for the production of the four aircraft, including initial spares provision, risk, concurrency, necessary programme and support arrangements, long lead items and our contribution to the composite share ratio for the next batch of aircraft is £999 million, as detailed in the National Audit Office Major Projects Report 2013.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>The incremental nature of the F-35 approvals means that the total cost of the programme is updated after each Main Gate is endorsed. The UK F-35 programme is scheduled to seek financial approval for its fifth and final main gate in 2017. At this point the overall cost of the programme will be published. Whilst the Ministry of Defence maintains a detailed through-life cost estimate for the programme which forecasts all Main Gates it does not publish these figures ahead of formal contract negotiation.I am withholding the information as its disclosure would prejudice commercial interests.</p> more like this

Regular simulator work and operational analysis is carried out to confirm the system's performance and operational test of the aircraft is planned to do the same. The air system currently meets or exceeds our requirements.
