That is why the government introduced the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023.</p><p>The Act will ensure that universities in England are a place where academics, students and visiting speakers can express a diverse range of views without fear of repercussion. The main provisions of the Act will come into force on 1 August 2024.</p><p>This Act will require reasonably practicable steps to be taken to secure freedom of speech within the law. It will not change the current legal position on what speech is lawful and unlawful. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2023 answer text <p>My officials have been in regular contact with the FCA on the issue of the treatment of Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) since concerns were first raised in 2017, and my predecessor, Rt. Hon. John Glen MP, met with the FCA and banks in February 2022 to underline the importance of the FCA’s guidance on PEPs.</p><p>Further to this, my Treasury colleague Baroness Penn wrote to the Chief Executive of the FCA in June setting out the Government’s expectations for their review into the treatment of PEPs by financial institutions. Following this letter, I wrote to the FCA in July underlining the importance of this review to the Government.</p><p> </p><p>The Money Laundering Regulations require financial institutions and other regulated businesses to carry out enhanced due diligence on PEPs due to the increased risks associated with their positions. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/06/2019 answer text <p>The UK is a long-standing supporter of the polio eradication efforts led by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. These efforts have been incredibly successful, seeing a 99% reduction in cases of polio over the last 30 years.</p><p> </p><p>The Global Polio Eradication Initiative has recently published its new strategic plan for the next phase of eradication activities, until 2023. The strategy does not commit to eradicate Polio by a certain date, as we know that the virus is still circulating in the most difficult environments where it’s extremely hard to reach every last child, such as parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. There will be a Polio moment in November when international donors are expected to announce ongoing commitment to the global eradication efforts.
