To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many universal credit claimants to date have had their payments stopped automatically when their child turned five-years old in (a) England and (b) each local authority area.

No Universal Credit payments have been automatically stopped where the claimant’s child has reached 5 years old’ Claimants receiving Universal Credit with a child aged 5 continue to receive their payment. The responsible carer with a youngest child aged 5 will be expected to undertake work preparation, work search and be available for work. This will be tailored and agreed with the work coach, taking into consideration caring responsibilities.
