	question text	To ask the President of COP26, what estimate he made of the total (a) energy usage and (b) emissions before offsetting by the operation of COP26.

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2021 answer text <p>Based on available estimates of floor areas for the Blue Zone and Green Zone, energy usage amounted to approximately 900,000 kWh electrical and 2,500,000 kWh thermal. This accounts for the build, live-event, and de-rig phases of the conference.</p><p>We have estimated total emissions of 102,500t of CO2 which includes a wide range of sources – including delegate and visitor transport, accommodation, catering, energy usage, and policing and security impacts. This accounts for the build, live-event, and de-rig phases of the conference.</p><p>We are now receiving actual event data from our delivery partners and are working with Arup, our sustainability consultants, on collating and reconciling all data from suppliers and delivery partners to inform the final offsetting figure and ensure COP26 was a carbon neutral event.
