For example, the UK signed a letter of intent in December 2023 with Cameroon’s Minister of the Environment, Nature Protection, and Sustainable Development to deliver the Biodiverse Landscapes Fund.</p><p> </p><p>Defra provides support for a variety of different projects that support rangers and protect elephants through the IWT Challenge Fund and direct programming, which are detailed below.</p><p> </p><ul><li>Defra’s grant scheme – the IWT Challenge Fund – has supported projects to change behaviours, strengthen wildlife crime legislation, and help communities to protect the wildlife they rely on for their livelihoods. More information is available at <a href="https://iwt.challengefund.org.uk/" target="_blank">https://iwt.challengefund.org.uk/</a>.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Our support for rangers includes the British military’s Defra-funded Counter IWT Ranger Training Programme, which has helped wildlife parks work together to strengthen law enforcement and share information to disrupt smuggling and poaching across Africa.</li><li>The UK is investing at least £12 million Overseas Development Assistance between 2024 and 2030 in Cameroon, Gabon, and the Republic of Congo through the £100 million Biodiverse Landscapes Fund. Around 1.8m people have claimed the allowance to date.</p><p> </p><p>Our current best estimate assessment of the initial cost of this allowance is £140m in 2015-16, but this does not include the impact of any expected future claims, which can be backdated to this year. The total cost of this allowance is forecast to rise to £385m in 2015-16 once these claims are taken into account.</p><p> </p><p>An estimate of the initial cost of this allowance for 2016-17 will not be available until the end of the tax year. We forecast an eventual cost to the exchequer of £425m, once all backdated claims are taken into account.</p><p> </p><p>HM Treasury does not hold information relating to the income deciles of claimants or successful applicants of the Marriage Allowance. Previous analysis of the total eligible population has shown the majority of the benefits of this policy go to the bottom half of the income distribution. The PDS provided condition data on 18,830 schools in England and provided condition data on each block in schools (59,967 blocks across the school estate).</p><p>Information on the age of school blocks was collected through the PDS and the categories used to define the age of blocks were Pre 1919, Inter War, 1945 to 1966, 1967 to 1976, post 1976 and temporary premises. The PDS did not specifically identify blocks built between 1960 and 1969. We did, however, identify buildings built between 1945 to 1966 and 1967 to 1976.</p><p>The PDS gathered condition data on a majority of schools in Hampshire. The Department does not hold specific condition information on blocks built in the 1960s under the Second Consortium of Local Authorities programme.</p><p>The Department is currently undertaking a new data collection; the Condition Data Collection (CDC) programme. This is the successor to the PDS. It aims to build on the successes of PDS in collecting independent centrally managed data about the condition of the school estate nationally.</p><p>The programme will commence in February 2017 and continue until autumn 2019. We aim to collect data on all state funded schools excluding Independent Specialist Providers, Special Post 16 Institutions and Further Education colleges.
